Services Provided

Healing Hands Health Center Provides:

  • Medical Care
  • Vision Care
  • Dental Care
  • Chiropractic Care
  • Foot Care
  • Physical Therapy
  • Psychological Counseling
  • Spiritual Counseling

 

 

Healing Hands strives to minister the whole person.  When the staff senses a need, they offer the patient pastoral and psychological counseling.  It is Healing Hands’ goal to encourage patients’ active participation in their own health care and to move patients to independence from the Center services when possible.
 
Patients at Healing Hands Health Center are seen primarily by volunteer licensed physicians, dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, chiropractors, podiatrists, physical therapists and counselors, assisted by volunteer nurses, ophthalmic assistants, and dental assistants.  Other clinical professionals and laypersons serve taking care of the drug room, reception, medical records, data entry, screening, cleaning and maintenance.  The clinic has a small staff including an Executive Director and a Medical Director.

Patient Eligibility Guidelines

Healing Hands Health Center, Inc. accepts patients who qualify according to the guidelines set below.  No person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, religion, sex, handicap or disabilities.  Healing Hands Health Center will attempt to provide limited English proficient persons with assistance necessary to afford them meaningful access to the services.  Patients do have the right to file a grievance.

  1. Geographic Area -  Reside in Greater Bristol
    • Bristol, TN/VA  
    • Blountville, TN
    • Bluff City, TN
    • Piney Flats, TN
    • Washington County, VA, zip codes 24201 and 24202
  2. Employment History
    • Be employed within the last 24 months or live in the same household of an employed person
    • Have NO health insurance (This includes TennCare, Virginia Medicaid, Medicare Part B and other forms of insurance.  *See ?Additional Considerations? below)
    • Retired persons with a history of employment, but NO Medicare Part B, or Supplemental Insurance
    • Students or those in vocational training
    • Persons on disability are seen in our dental clinic as space allows
  3. Financial Guidelines
    • Patients must meet financial guidelines based on size of household.  Healing Hands Health Center's income guidelines are set at 200% of the U.S. Government's poverty level. Patient income qualification will be calculated during patient interview screenings.
    • Must provide financial information on total household income and proof of employment; documentation is required (copy of latest tax return, paycheck stub).


Additional Considerations: 

  • Routine Dental, Eye, and Chiropractic Care are provided for recipients (over age 20) of TennCare, Virginia Medicaid, or Medicare since these services are not covered under these programs.  
  • All clinics require employment by someone in the household.
  • Not eligible for Chiropractic if patient has Medicare Part B.

  • Picture and ID (Identification) 
  • Social security card of all household members
  • Proof of residence: copy of utility bill or other mail with home address on it.

 Services not available at Healing Hands:
  • Prenatal care
  • Child health care under age two years
  • Immunizations
  • Gynecological Services
  • Birth control/family planning
  • Screening for sexually transmitted diseases (referred to health department)
  • Epilepsy treatment
  • Treatment of serious conditions such as cancer, heart conditions, etc.
  • Disability determinations
  • Treatment of very complex conditions
  • Contact Lenses will not be prescribed nor provided

Examples of people not served by Healing Hands 

  • People who have health insurance
  • People seeking a second opinion
  • People who give false or incomplete information
  • People who are intoxicated
  • People seeking narcotics
  • People who are overtly unappreciative, abrasive or verbally abusive
  • People who have a physician but come to the clinic because they are unable to get an appointment as quickly as they would wish
  • Minors not accompanied by a parent or guardian\
